— 153 — bestimmt hat, hat Gott nicht befohlen, untertan zu sein der “Obrigkeit, der Er doch Gewalt gegeben hat?” Zwar der Herr Jesus hat ausdrücklich und ohne Beschränkung befohlen: ge- heit hin in alle Welt Und predigt das Evangelium aller Kreatur und wirklich lesen wir auch nirgends, daß die Apostel erst die heidnische Obrigkeit um Erlaubniß gefragt haben, das Evangelium verkundigen zu dürfen, sondern sie haben’s frei verkündet und dann hangenommen, was darnach kam. Aber, hieß es wieder bei ihnen, wir wollen ja nicht allein predigen, wir sollen auch eine Kolonie grinden und das ist doch eine irdische Sache zugleich. Auf davon können wir des Herrn unbeschränkten Befehl nicht anwenden. Dann ist wieder ein anderer Vorschlag gemacht: Wir wollen etwa drei oder vier Missionare hineingehen lassen in’s Land mit dem, was sie tragen können und die anderen sollen nach Natal ge- hen und dort die .Kolonie gründen, weil es hier verwehrt wird. Und es haben sich wirklich noch mehr als einer bereit erklärt, sie wollten hingehen und nur mit dem, was sie tra- gen, eindringen in's Land, es möge ihnen ergehen wie es wolle; im nächsten Jahr könnten ja dann die aus der Kolonie das Schiff wieder vorschicken, um zu sehen, ob sie lebten oder todt wären. Dagegen wurde aber wieder gelitten, sie seien als eine Gemeine ausgesandt und hätten den Befehl mitbekommen, vereinigt zu bleiben, deshalb dürften sie sich nicht teilen. So ist es hin- und hergegan- gen bis endlich der Gemeinebeschluß dahin ausgefallen ist- nach Natal zurückzugeben und dort eine Kolonie zu grlinden und von da aus zu harren, bis sich in Ostasrika die- Thür aufthue. Und obwohl den Brüdern das Herz geblutet hat- obgleich sie mit Schmerz bekannten: das wird unsern lieben Vorstehern in Herinannsburg ein Stich durch’s Herz sein- denn denen hängt das Herz an den Gallas und an Ostafrikal So haben doch selbst die, welche durchaus bleiben wollten und das Bleiben bis zum letzten Augenblick verfechten, sich dem Gemeinebeschluß unterworfen und daran haben sie Recht.

— 153 — Did God not command submission to obedience? Indeed, Jesus Christ expressly and without restriction commanded: to go into all the world, and to preach the Gospel to all creation. And truly, we read nowhere that the apostles first inquired for permission to preach the heathen authority, but they freely proclaimed it and then hung on, as if this was the only way. But, it was said again to them, we do not want to preach alone, but we should also establish a colony, and this is a matter of earth. On this basis, we cannot apply the unlimited command of God. Then another suggestion was made: we would allow three or four missionaries to enter into the land with what they carry, and the others should go to the Christmas, and there should be a colony founded there, because it is forbidden here. And many have truly agreed, they wanted to go in and only with what they carry, to enter into the land, so that it should go as they wish; in the next year, possibly, the colony could send a ship to see if they live or die. But again, suffering was suffered, they were condemned as a sower, and the command was received to remain united, therefore they must not share. So it is thus and forth until the sower’s decree has fallen. Returning to the homeland and establishing a colony, till the final end of time, and there will be a colony with the blessing of God.
