Außerdem habe ich die Bedingung in die Schenkungsurkunde aufnehmen lassen, obgleich Behrens das nicht gern wollte, daß in dem Falle, wenn er oder seine Kinder, so der HErr ihm deren noch geben würde, entweder durch das Klima in Afrika oder aus anderen Gründen, aus ihrem Ver- hältnisse zum Missionshause selbstwiederherauszutreten wünsch- ten, eine bestimmte, dem Werthe des Hofes entsprechende Abfindungssumme ausgezahlt werden solle, wodurch er oder seine Kinder in den Stand gesetzt würden, ein anderes An- wesen zu kaufen. Mit Widerstreben hat er eingewilligt und so haben wir denn mit Gesang, Gebet und Gottes Wort von dem Hofe im Namen des HErrn Besitz ergriffen. Ich habe da über das Wort Jakobs 1. Mose 32, 10 gepredigt und ich denke, der HErr ist bei dieser Feier gewesen, an wel-cher das ganze Missionshaus und viele Gemeineglieder An- theil nahmen. Da wir den Hof mit allem Zubehör, aber auch mit allen Lasten und Schulden übernommen haben, so werden wir in den ersten Jahren vermehrte Last, Ausgabe und Arbeit haben, darum haben wir das Geschenk mit Zittern angenommen. Für die Folge aber wird mit Gottes gnädi- ger Hülfe ein großer Segen zu erwarten sein.
