Ich hatte einen kleinen Vor-schmack Von dem, was geschrieben steht Apostelgesch 14, 27t Da sie aber darkamen, versammelten sie die Gemeine und verkündigten, wie viel Gott mit ihnen getan hätte Und wie Er den Heiden hätte die Thür des Glaubens aufgethan. Zwar sind sie es noch nicht selbst gewesen, die ihren Mund vor der Gemeine aufgethan, aber doch ihre Briefe haben geredet. Zwar Verkündigten ihre Briefe noch nicht, wie Gott durch sie den Heiden die Thür des Glaubens auf- gethan hat, aber sie schreiben doch aus dem Heidenlande und erzählen von den großen Thaten, die Gott dort durch andere treue Boten an den Heiden gethan hat. Wie wird es einst sein, wenn ich es noch erleben soll und einige von ihnen kommen einmal persönlich wieder und thun ihren Mund auf vor der Gemeine zum Erzählen! Doch ich will nun der Ordnung nach erzählen, was sie schreiben. Mit Rührung gedenken sie alle des schönen Gottesdien-stes, den ihnen in Kuxhafen der liebe Pastor Walther aus Ritzebüttel an Bord der Kandaze, als sie Sonntags, den 30. October, dort still lagen, gehalten hat über Jes. 43. Der eine meint, daß diese Rede einen jeden v«on ihnen, so er an- ders treu bleibt, Zeit Lebens als ein sicherer Trost begleiten wird; ihm wenigstens hätten die seligen Worte: Ich habe dich bei deinem Namen gerufen, du bist Meinz So du durchs Wasser gehst, will Ich bei dir sein, daß dich die Ströme nicht sollen ersäufen und so du in’s Feuer gehst, sollst du nicht brennen und die Flamme soll dich nicht anzünden u. s. w.- in den Gefahren auf der See alle Furcht und Bangigkeit vertrieben," und sie sollten auch durch Gottes Gnade auf sei-ner ganzen Pilgrimschaft das Gegengift gegen alle Furcht und Schrecken bleiben.
